After tutorial

 Today after the tutorial with Steve i have decided to further develop my ideas in order to create more deep story/animation.  As i have decided to start writing the treatment for the story. 

TREATMENT

Title- Comrades

Set up the main characters.

Dmitri- Main character, protagonist in the story. In the beginning of the story we can see Dmitri waking up and minding his own business until he notices that his necklace is gone. Throughout the piece the character will develop as

Mitya- Dmitri’s long forgotten- brother. Investigator at the police station. We can see Mitya only during the epilogue of the movie when Dmitri comes in to report in the theft. When it comes to the development of the character the audience will first see him agitated/angry running out of his office. Whereas later on, he will grab Dmitri and tell him that he has taken the necklace.

 

 

 

 

Explore the acts

Act 1- Dream

Here the viewer will see the dream at the beginning of the play which would show Dmitri and Mitya as well as the grandmother. As the Dream progresses we can see that Dmitri receives necklace from his grandmother while Mitya stands in the back looking at the whole scene sobbing and agitated.

Act 2- House

In this Act we will get to meet the main protagonist Dmitri, as well as his neighbour. We see a Dmitri waking up and following his everyday routine until he draws his hand into the drawer to put on the necklace. However, he notices that it’s not there and it’s missing.

Act 3- Panic

Here the viewer would see the panic into which Dmitri enters when he realizes that his necklace is missing. As he starts to look around the house and goes outside to check that maybe he dropped in his front garden. During his searchings he stumbles upon his neighbour. Asking him how is he doing and what happened? Dmitri explains the whole situation to him while he responds sympathetically. Dmitri decides to go back into the house and upon further inspection he realizes that furniture is misplaced as well which he hasn’t noticed beforehand due to the panic. At the end of this act he decides to call the police. However, no one picks up the phone so he decides to go there himself.

 

Act 4- On his way to the police station

As the main character goes outside he can birds chirping away and people squirming away while all his mind on is focused is the necklace. He establishes that the shortest way to go to the police station would be through the park. On his way to the park he goes by the pawn shop which often is popular within the upper-class. As he goes by his eyes hits ray of something mingling he turns in the direction and first he couldn’t believe his eyes it is the necklace that he is looking for at least he thinks so. He enters the pawn shop without a minute of hesitation and asks the clerk when have they received the necklace that is in the front window. To which clerk responds that they must have received couple days ago. Clerk was about to ask him another question related to the necklace however Dmitri steps out of the pawn shop and comes to the conclusion that this necklace can’t be his.  Later on he goes through the park listening to birds chirping and people rushing in order to get to the work on time. Finally, after some time he sees the building which might solve his problem.

 

Act 5- Police station

Finally after arriving at the Police Station. Dmitri comes up to the front reception and tells man behind the desk about his current situation. To which the police officer asks relevant questions like “When did he last see the necklace and how did it look like?” To which Dmitri describes the amulet and mentions when did he last see it. Lastly, Police officer asks Dmitri whether anyone lives with him. And Dmitri responds No. Police Officer asks Dmitri to take a seat and wait until his name will be called out. After taking a seat Dmitri spots a poster which he picks up. And on the other side of the poster which Dmitri will not see but the viewer will see due to low angle camera used. There will be the advert of the necklace that would be similar to the one Dmitri has received. When waiting to be called out Dmitri startles as someone shouts his name and steps out of the room into the main hall. Asking Dmitri what is he doing in here. He looks confused but after a second realizes that it’s his long forgotten brother and responds “Mitya. Oh God what are you doing in here.” After that Mitya takes Dmitri by the hand and takes him into his room to have a private conversation. Meanwhile Mitya says how sorry he is. While Dmitri is confused onto what is going on. After which Mitya that it was him who took the necklace. And expressing his grief and gratitude keeps on saying how sorry he is and that when he did he wasn’t sober. After this explanation Mitya puts a hand into his pocket and gives back the necklace to Dmitri mentioning that it was never meant to be his and asks for his forgiveness. Dmitri hugs his brother and says that he will always forgive him.

 

Epilogue

Act 6- Reconciliation

Dmitri when leaving the station notices the same poster he has seen before however now it’s turned on the other side and sees the advert of the necklace. After some thought he decides to go to shop that sells it and buy it for Mitya. He comes back to the station to give the gift to Mitya to which he is surprised and as a show of love they hug each other.

 

 

 

SCRIPT

Then it cuts to the top down view of the Dmitri having a close up on his bed while he’s sleeping and opening his eyes suddenly startled and out of breath.

Dmitri looks to the side to check what is the time and reaches into the drawer to put his necklace on however he notices that it is missing.

 

INT. DMITRI’S HOUSE

He wakes up from the dream startled he goes about his life as normal so he brushes his teeth opens the window to get some fresh air. However, when he looks into the drawer he notices that his amulet is missing.

He is startled and starting to get anxious. He is looking everywhere to find it where he might have loosen up and drop on to the floor.

 

Later on he decides to look for it outside in the proximity area.

When looking for it he stumbles upon one of his neighbours who asks him what he is doing

He says that he is looking for a precious item that he has lost.

He says how unfortunate that is and he’s hoping that he would find it.

When coming back to the house protagonist notices that some things within his house were misplaced, that he hasn’t noticed beforehand.

He decides to call the police station to report robbery/theft. However, no one picks up the phone so he decides to go the station himself.

EXT.

He steps out of the house and establishes that the best way to get to the police station would be through the park.

On the way to the police station he goes by pawn shop. Furthermore, on the way there are adverts that are advertising the necklace however he doesn’t notice them.

When going by something has caught his eye. When looking at the shop window he notices the necklace.

 

INT. PAWN SHOP

He goes into the pawn shop to ask about the necklace. He asks when did have they received the necklace that someone put up.

Clerk responds that they have received couple days ago. Dmitri realises that it can’t be the same necklace and decides to leave.

 

EXT.

He steps out of the pawn shop and is en route to the police station.

On the way he can hear birds chirping, cars honking.

He arrives at the police station to report theft/robbery.

 

INT POLICE STATION

Dmitri- Hello, I came in to report robbery.

Police officer- Okay sir. If you could have your name please?

Dmitri- Dmitri.

Police Officer- Okay Mr. Dmitri. Please tell me when did you last see it, how did it look like.

Dmitri- Well, last time I saw it was last night when I was putting it into the drawer next to my bed where I keep It everyday. It resembles a kite with grey and red colours.

Police Officer- Okay. Does anybody live with you?

Dmitri- No.

Police officer- Thank you. One of our team investigators should call you and will be in touch with you in a moment. Meanwhile please take a seat.

Dmitri- Thank you

Dmitri takes a seat in the waiting area and spots an interesting magazine.

Camera shifts to low angle to show the advert on the back.

Mitya- Dmitri what are you doing in here?

Dmitri – Startled, confused at first. Oh my God Mitya. You in here?

 

 

 

Investigator steps out of the room into the main hall where Dmitri resides and shouts “ Dmitri what are you doing in here?”

Dmitri startled looks at the character and realizes it’s his long-forgotten brother that he didn’t have a lot of contact with. And says “Oh my God, Mitya. You in here?.”

Mitya- Takes Dmitri by the hand into his room to have a private conversation. “Listen, Dmitri I am sorry I am such a fool. I am sorry I didn’t mean to. I am sorry.

Dmitri- is confused about what is going on.

Mitya- It was me. I took it. I know I am such a fool. I am sorry.

Dmitri- You took what? The amulet?

Mitya- Yes, it was me don’t grief at me please. I am sorry I was drunk I don’t what got into me.

Dmitri- Oh brother. I would never expect you to carry out such a foolishness. What got into you.

Mitya- Gives him back the amulet I am sorry it was never meant to be mine. I hope that you can forgive me brother

Dmitri- Awe struck takes the amulet and hugs his brother. I will always forgive you.

Dmitri-steps out of the room and on his way to the door he notices the advert of the necklace.

Dmitri-comes back to the police station with the bag. He hands it to Mitya.
